A Foodie’s Porn

Without over exaggeration, I believe my first introduction to the word ‘porn’ was attached to the word food.

Foodporn. An array of cuisines exquisitely captured to salivate our tastebuds at first glance. Somehow the intoxicating smell of said food is able to reach your nose simply through the viewing device intensifying your solid stare down. You just can’t look away. Don’t get me started if the naughty act happens to be in the form of film. It truly becomes an art when the ingredients meld and mend together and produce a beautiful something for your eyes to feast on.

I remember my brother introducing me to the website ‘foodporndaily.com‘, essentially an endless clicking of mesmerizing photos. Filling my desktop with Fluffy Bourbon Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Buns or Skirt Steak Chimichurri, scrambled eggs, and sharp cheddar cheese  on a salted Pretzel bun, I was hooked. I had an addiction if you will.

Even before I knew the term ‘foodie’, our household took to the kitchen for fun. Whether experimenting with a Betty Crocker instant cake mix, or forking over a pretty penny for that added saffron thread in a pasta dish, creating innovative recipes always stems from inspiration.

With a multitude of food blogs, websites, and brands in the running for my own personal favorites, I have narrowed down my 2014 #foodporn winner. This goes without saying, yet I still would like to advise you to watch Carte Noire‘s films in the comfort of your own home or with a trusted friend who will not judge you for your reaction. Even the underbed of sensual music for lack of better words, will turn you on.

Coined by the French, I write with extra gratefulness for their culinary expertise,

Bon Appetit.
